Deserved victory over unbeaten league leaders

East London head coach Eddie Gooby was delighted by the 1st XV's 29-12 victory over his former club Chelmsford at the Memorial Ground in West Ham on Saturday.
Speaking after the game Eddie said: "The game was being built up as a rivalry between myself and my former club where I was director of rugby. But it was all about the East London players who put their bodies on the line and produced a great team performance and deserved the victory against the unbeaten London 3 Essex leaders.
"It was nice to win but it was also good to see some of my old friends and players from Chelmsford. But I'm an East London boy and I am very excited about this group of players. Hopefully the fun we're having is going to continue long into the season."
