ANNONCEMENT FROM CLUB CHAIR SIMON CRICK: "We are deeply saddened to have to announce that our vice-chair and treasurer Deborah 'Birdy' lost her fight against cancer on 10 January. Everyone connected to East London RFC is devastated at this sad news.

"Birdy has been an integral part of the club since first joining us in 2012. She became a dedicated volunteer who people could always approach. The enthusiasm, knowledge and purpose she brought to the club was invaluable and was recognised by Essex Rugby with the awarding of a valued volunteer certificate. This award gave her real pride and joy.

"Birdy was and always will be part of the fabric of our club. We will miss her terribly. The club sends our condolences to husband Gary and to Birdy's family. Rest in Peace Birdy. Sic Parvis Magna."
