London 3 Essex league fixtures are announced

East London kick-off their London 3 Essex league campaign on 14 September with a difficult challenge away against league newcomers Mavericks.
The maroon and blues will be looking to go one better than last season when they finished runners-up to Epping Upper Clapton and missed promotion in a narrow play-off defeat away at Holt.
Head coach Eddie Gooby said: “People are saying we are favourites to go up but we are not looking at it like that. Our success last season and our win in the final of the Essex Intermediate Cup means we have a massive target on our backs. Every other team is strengthening and they will all want to beat us, but that is all down to the respect we justifiably earned last season.
“Mavericks will be a tough start and they will be looking to continue their excellent form at the end of last season when they won their final four games to finish second in the Essex 1 division level on points with winners Upminster. They also went through the season unbeaten at home.”
East London’s first home game at Memorial Park, West Ham, is against head coach Gooby’s former team Chelmsford on 21 September. Said Eddie: “They are always difficult opponents and will be smarting from our three wins against them last season in league and Cup competitions, but we will show them, and all the other teams we play, the respect they deserve. It looks like a great season ahead.”
