East London RFC are delighted to announce the appointment of Club President Nick Bracken as the new President Elect of Essex County Rugby Football Union for the 2019/20 season.
The appointment was agreed at the recent Essex County Annual General Meeting and Nick will be supporting new County President Alan Price from Harlow RFC over the next 12 months before taking up the reins of President in 2020/21.
Nick said: "It is an honour and privilege to be offered this very exciting role and I thank Essex RFU for having faith in me. I'm looking forward to supporting new President Alan Price this season and then stepping up next year. Good times are ahead for Essex and I thank Immediate Past President Ivor Smith for all his great work and being a true ambassador for the county."
The new role doesn't mean Nick is lost to East London RFC where he is continuing his ambassadorial role as Club President. He stepped down as Chairman of the club in the summer to be replaced by his Vice-Chair Simon Crick.
Nick said: "It seemed appropriate that East London should win the Essex Intermediate Cup in my final season as Chairman. The club is in safe hands with Simon Crick and his management team, but I will still be heavily involved, combining my East London Club President duties with my Essex County commitments."
Club Chair Simon Crick said: "We congratulate Nick and wish him all the best in his new role and are looking forward to supporting him when called on."
