East London RFC has congratulated its successful Wyverns 2nd XV and the Thirty Thirds 3rd XV for winning their respective Cup finals at the Group 1 Automotive Essex Merit Table Finals day on Saturday (April 5th).
The Wyverns, champions of Group 1 Automotive Essex Merit Table Division 3 West for season 2024-25, completed the league and Cup double with a 22-13 win over Ilford Wanderers RFC in the final staged at Rochford Hundred RFC.
A hat-trick of tries and a conversion from fly-half Harris McDonald and a try from winger Charlie Raw saw the Wyverns home. They are now looking for a season treble as they begin their John Adler Cup campaign at Witham on Saturday (12th April).
The 3rd XV, runners up in Group 1 Automotive Merit Table Division 4 West, beat league winners Ravens RFC in their Cup final 15-0 with tries from Dani Sotillo Martin, Ben Robinson and Kieran Baxter.
Club Co-Chair Kat Salthouse said: “Congratulations to the Wyverns and Thirsty Thirds who have had a fantastic season. They both played great rugby on the day. Well done to all the players and to the coaches and support staff who got them on the pitch. It has been a great team effort. As a club we can be incredibly proud of our achievements this season with still more to play for.”
