East London RFC’s Vixens Ladies completed a Mother’s Day 10-0 victory over Chobham Women on Sunday (10 March) to put some breathing space between them and the lower end of the league table.
On a muddy wet pitch which put expansive running rugby at a premium, it was tries from inside centre Freya Challis and Number Eight forward Lauren Hatch that saw them home at Memorial Park in West Ham.
The win leaves the Vixens in eighth place in Women’s National Challenge 1 South East (North) with 22 points from 14 games, 14 points above opponents Chobham and 15 points above bottom place London Welsh Women who they still have to play away.
Women’s Rugby Officer and Vixens front row replacement Kat Salthouse said: “It was good to get such a vital win on Mothering Sunday with three mums in our team, me, replacement prop Christine Kizito and outside centre Whitney Bennet (all pictured).”
