Ladies blow away opponents on away trip

Strong winds and driving coastal rain couldn’t prevent East London Vixens scoring an impressive 5-32 away win at Southwold Women on Sunday (13 October).
The victory makes it three wins out of four this season and puts the Vixens third in Women’s National Challenge 1 East.
The Vixens fought hard to overcame a solid Southwold outfit. They owed the win to two tries from scrum-half and skipper Aoife Farrell, who also kicked a conversion; two tries from prop Christine Kizito; and a further brace from inside centre Alina Dinita.
The maroon and blues were marshalled in the forwards by returning number 8 Ciara Baxter playing her first game in more than a year because of injury. They dominated in the scrums and mauls.
Decent set plays set up the tries but East London were equally as strong in defence where cover tackles and darting runs from full back Rachel Edmead won her the title of back of the match. Second row Sasha Breens-Portier and Maria Lamont from the bench were impressive debutants.
