East London RFC’s men’s second team the Wyverns have completed an unprecedented treble-winning 2024-25 season with victory in the final of the John Adler Cup.
Wyverns skipper Thomas Mohan lifted the trophy after a 28-20 success against Upminster 2s in a match played at Romford & Gidea Park RFC. Tries came from Trent Martin, Sashah Pashaei-Tarighoun, vice-captain Karim Russell-Ketfi, and three penalties and two conversions from Fabio Ogunfowora.
The Wyverns Cup win followed a successful campaign in Group 1 Automotive Merit Table Division 3 West for season 2024-25 where they secured top spot with 60 points from 14 games, six ahead of their closest rivals. They won 12 games on their way to the title, scoring 450 points with 35 players contributing to the total.
Having won the league the Wyverns then defended the Group 1 Automotive Merit Table Division 3 West Cup which they won last season. They defeated Ilford Wanderers 22-13 in the final played at Rochford Hundred RFC. A hat-trick of tries and a conversion from Harris McDonald and a try from Charlie Raw saw them home.
Club Co-Chair Nick Parrott said: “Congratulations to the Wyverns who have had a fantastic season. Three trophies for one team in the same season is unprecedented for our club. Well done to all the players and to our Director of Rugby Eddie Gooby and Wyverns coach Chris Glen. It has been a great team effort.”
