Same conditions...old opponents...let the battle commence!

The general setting for a Ninja’s vs. Millwall head to head seemed to be reminiscent for both teams. Rain, mud, a slippery ball and the same home pitch we played on last time we faced our mighty opponents.

In a similar fashion to previous matches, East London Ladies attacked and defended exhaustingly for 80 minutes non-stop (other than half time of course). A great improvement in rucking and support meant that the ladies were getting to rucks thick and fast, protecting and defending the ball in the name of the Ninja’s and friends, with a respectively better technique and discipline! Ball handling skills (although a few knock-on’s, which we can blame on the dire weather) also saw an increase in skill and ability from both the Millwall and East London sides. Unfortunately scrums were uncontested, so we didn't get the chance to test out the strength of our pack with the new scrumming laws. However, from a forwards perspective, this was just as fortunate considering the high number of scrums.

Moving away from game play, slightly, let us have some insight into the almighty score. First of all, a huge congratulations to our scrum half Aoife Farrell, who stepped up as our kicker for this exciting game. She converted all tries except one. Not sound too impressive? It will when you see the score!

Tries were scored by: Nina Edwards, running in 3 amazing tries, at least two of which involved running through and around at least a handful of opponents. Kanyinsola Afilaka, who also touched down with 3 tries for the Ninja’s, one of those really is just un-explainable. Alice Thompson who scored two tries. Last but by no means least, Millie who destroyed Millwall with an amazing run to place the ball between the posts!
Millwall Venus also scored a well-deserved try, after battling with the East London Ladies defense for a prolonged period of time (I have no concept of time, so I can’t be exact).

The most important part:
Man of the Match: Millie
Dick of the Day: Stephanie, for falling down on her own accord with no wind or person within a reachable radius.

Final Score: East London Ladies 61 – 7 Millwall Venus
